Wild Northwest Fall Color 42
Blue Lake in Washington's North Cascade Mountains is one of the most beautiful places to see the magic of alpine larch trees turning gold in autumn. Larches are unique deciduous conifers: they shed their needles in winter and regrow them in spring. Those mountains are Liberty Bell (7720 feet) and the Early Winters Spires, which are visible on their opposite sides from the scenic North Cascades Highway.
